This week I have been mostly. . .

. . . sieving slips.

I’ve spent a lot of the week sieving all my slips in readiness to let them loose across a lot of new pots given time. It’s not my most enjoyable of jobs but the satisfaction makes it worthwhile.

Amanda took some pics for me in the new year and here are some of them which are really good I think. Thanks Amanda.

It’s taking me a bit of time to get my head back into workshop mode again. I decorated four little jugs that have been under plastic since Christmas Eve and used my newly sieved slips. Yummmmm, it was worth every minute of sieving.

I don’t have a name for these fat, some squared some not handled bowls yet. Any ideas?
And…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
I bought my chainsaw! Wooohoooo! Not got the PPE yet (personal protective equipment for those not in the know) so I can’t use it yet. It is sat on the kitchen table at the moment being drooled at by the both of us. Paul seems to be under the impression that this is as much his chainsaw as mine. Humph! I beg to differ. We shall flipping well see about that.

  1. Have you sen Jim Newboult’s work? His pottery is Trinity Court Pottery. I’ve come across him a number of times as he makes pottery for re-enactment groups. We used to take our boys to medieval battles and the likes. He makes a similar pot to your squared ones and he calls them warmers as they were used to put hot embers in to warm ‘stuff’.Those photos are excellent.
