More Snow and Some Slip

Long time no pots it seems. Life feels like it is conspiring against me getting properly into pottery making so far this year. Well this is me telling it that actually pots are having their turn now. My flights are booked for my American trip so I need to get on and get on well at the workshop now.

I have been making another batch of these little plates, just one and a half pounds of clay, I love the wide rims and it’s such a satisfying surface to decorate. Also of course they will pack really well for sending out across the world. A vitally important point to consider.

I haven’t had any second opinions on them. Sometimes you just need someone else to look over your shoulder and smile or pull a face to let you know whether or not you are barking up the wrong tree. I hope I’m not doing said barking up said wrong tree but I’m too close to it to know at the moment.

This tyg is a newly decorated piece too, it’s the smallest of three that I made many moons ago and that have been sat under plastic nagging at me to get them out and slipped. I am really enjoying having my slip trailers out again, it feels good. It’s been too long. I felt a little rusty when I picked them up yesterday but it soon started to be fun again. Long may that last.

This week is both my mum’s and my dad’s birthdays. My dad will be the one after 59 this time which he’ll not thank me for telling you. We’ll be having a family meal at the weekend to celebrate both birthdays. I’m looking forward to that, get to see how much my nephew has grown in the two weeks since I have seen him. I wonder if they’ll let me lose with the pram again after the last time….

Finally here are some chilly toed birdies for you. This video sent my cat mad trying to find the birds when I just played it.

Love the Tyg, but sorry not getting the plates with pictures of mugs on them at all. Sorry.

The tyg is lovely- your lettering is beautiful too, but I also am not keen on the mug motif. We have some sunshine down here in the South, but only just creeping above freezing.

I like the paper resist mugs & jugs! Those wee plates are perfect for holding cake or biccies to go with a cuppa & it harks back to your more traditional work – love! :) Great to see new pots! Enjoy the weekends partying! 😉 x

Thanks for the comments all, interesting split on the thoughts on the new pots. I think I’ll wait until I have them glazed and finished before I make my mind up.
GZ I leave on May 7th, not long now.
