Miscalculation.

OK, baby= 7lb 10oz, I want to make a jug similar shape to my usual fat bellied ones, why did I think a 5lb body and a 2lb 10oz neck was a good idea? That means the neck is half the weight of the body! Big ol neck.

This one I used about 1lb for the neck, it’s a bit odd, haven’t decided yet whether or not I like it.

On the left we have the 5lb body with a 2lb 10oz collar added and thrown, it may or may not end up back on the scrap heap tomorrow, it was interesting just to see what it would look like and how it felt to throw a second section on to a drier one.
On the right we have the slightly lesser necked version.
In the middle is another attempt. This time 6lb in the body and tomorrow 1lb and 10oz for the neck, should be a better size I hope. Next installment in the big jug saga tomorrow.
PS. Paul and I have lived together in our little cottage in the country for a whole year now. Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun.

Cool. It’s difficult getting those weights right isn’t it? It’ll look fab with a good harvest jug handle on it. Check this http://www.studiopottery.com/cgi-bin/pp.cgi?item=2571

  5. Good to see your back at work too. I am doing a bowl for a wedding that I was commissioed to do. I thought I may as well get a batch of bowls done whilst I was at it but I plan to do some jugs. Maybe we should all do our own harvest jugs!

HannahThe neck on the 1 lb jug is quite attractive. I think it “fits” the jug nicely !!!HugsChae
