That looks the business – well done on getting it up to temperature, or there abouts. Next firing will be much easier. And thank you for all the texts – I’ve been feeling rough and hung-over all day but it was fun to be caught up in the excitement of it all :)Fingers crossed for the results.

  2. Wow – you are making great headway on the kiln building. All the best for Spring Fling I hope all goes well. I’m off on a walking holiday tomorrow near Abergavenny.Have put the kiln on a glaze firing but I won’t be able to open it ’till I come back on Monday evening.

Castle Douglas can claim a first. As a result of a first kiln firing a large slipware platter has been launched into space. The platter is unmanned but may collide with other orbiting space equipment (due to the hire firing temperature the object will not burn-up).When interviewed the potters response was ‘Nothing to do with me guv I just set fire to a pile of wood!!’Hope the spring-fling goes with a zing!!!!

  8. Very nice post! It was fun to read what was going on hroughout the firing. Encouraging, as well, to those of us who want to wood fire but haven’t been able to yet. There is hope!
