Cecil was a catapillar, Cecil was my friend

That is to say he was my friend until I found him and his entire extended family devouring my sprouts yesterday morning! I collected 70 to put away over the fence but then lost count, just been out now to check and there they all are back again, I recognise them so I know it’s the same ones, and a jolly great big beautiful hare joining in the feast.

Look at their little heads all peeping over the edge of what was left of the leaf chomp chomp chomping away. You could see the leaf disappearing before your very eyes it was amazing but quite annoying too.

Our dinner last night looked good against my dark plates I thought, a bit blurred though, sorry.

It disappeared almost as fast as my sprouts are doing.

Been at work today while Paul was out cycling in the sunshine. Glazed a kiln load of pots and got them back in again, slipped some big jars, sgraffitoed a tiny harvest jug and mopped the floor all nice and clean and tidy for the morning. Tomorrow it’ll be hard on with some pots for Ceramics in the City, must get a move on and hope the sun is out to speed up the drying.

Cecil was a caterpillar, Cecil was my friend,
The last time I saw Cecil he was this big (indicate size of small caterpillar)

Cecil was a caterpillar, Cecil was my friend,
The last time I saw Cecil he was this big (indicate size of bit bigger caterpillar)

I said Cecil what have you been doing?

And he said I’ve been eating all the cabbages in your garden
Cecil was a caterpillar, Cecil was my friend,The last time I saw Cecil he was this big
(indicate size of bit bigger and bit bigger caterpillar until you have to run away down the drive and across the road until you can show the size of a massive caterpillar as I did this morning when telling Paul about Cecil.)
I said Cecil what have you been doing?
And he said I’ve been eating all the cabbages in your street (village, town, county etc)

Cecil was a caterpillar, Cecil was my friend,

The last time I saw Cecil he was this big (indicate tiny caterpillar)
I said Cecil what have you been doing
And he said I’ve been sick.
THE END

  1. You’re right-the plates look awesome-and I love your poem/story.

  2. I’m sure that The Cure have done a song about a Caterpillar Girl didn’t go like that though.
