I went down to Wales on Wednesday evening to meet bloggers Doug and Matt and the soon to be blogger Paul Young, at ClayArt in Denbigh. We were firing the wee bottle kiln that had been built there a couple of years ago. I had a blooming whale of a time, even after spending Wednesday night sleeping in what felt like an ice cube. Fabulous show and fantastic company and I’m just so excited about building a wood kiln, I was keen anyway but this just had me falling head over heels. My pictures of the pots aren’t exactly sparkling but oh I love it.
One of the fire boxes at about 6am on Saturday.
Opened with the stacks of saggers still in place.
A bit of an assortment of the pots that came out of there. There were pots by four or five different potters.
Nice couple of jugs of mine, Paul’s glaze is almost clear, not as deep as my honey so it was a little strange seeing them at first but I love them now. I’m keeping them all for myself.
These are the pots that managed to find their way home with me. Paul Young very very kindly gave me the beautiful tree with the sheep and the bird as a thank you. I was really touched and very pleased, it’s sitting on our mantelpiece now. Also the birthday cake that bloggers Doug and Matt made for my pottery’s fifth birthday, it was fired in the bottle kiln too.
I’ll just leave you with these pictures for now so that I can run off and remind my Paul of who I am. Very nice to be back home no matter how good a time you have when you’re away.
